If ever there was a time in NHS history to make the most of every genuinely good idea going, it’s been the last five years!

Thames Valley HIEC came into being in April 2010, with the support of a wide range of organisations from right across the Thames Valley region.  Click here for a full list of organisations that supported our original bid to the Department of Health.

Working with our partners in the Thames Valley, we harnessed the knowledge, experience, talents and influence of key people from the NHS, local authorities, Higher and Further Education, the private and the third sector.  We focused on helping to nurture, develop, adopt and adapt genuine ideas which promoted the welfare of our patients, service users and their families, as well as to deliver better care closer to homes and communities – wherever they could be put to use.

Our priorities for the five years 2010-2015

Patients, their welfare and their satisfaction with their experience of care, were at the heart of all we did.

The following four programme areas were our priority over the five year period:

  • Integration of Services
  • Patient Safety
  • Care Closer to Home
  • Capacity and Capability in Practice..

Under each of these programme areas, we ran a number of projects and also offered news updates, seminars and workshops on ideas and innovations relevant to our four themes. Patients, their welfare and their satisfaction with their experience of care, were at the heart of all we did.  The rest of this website tells the story as it unfolded.
