Pathology services like other NHS services nationally have had to adapt over recent years to increased demand put upon their services whilst still contributing to the national savings of £20 billion needed across the NHS by 2015. Keeping the patient’s quality expectations at foremost within the service, has resulted in Trusts having to work collaboratively by sharing laboratory services and adapting to the increasing expectations of commissioners to reduce costs by introducing further lean initiatives. Although savings and demand management are key directives within pathology services today, this site will also be exploring Innovation, community of interest, best practice, technology, governance & quality insurance
